Laughing gas
Laughing Gas
Nitrous oxide, also known as laughing gas, is a type of dental Sedation that can make patients feel more at ease and calm their nerves throughout dental treatments. It is an odorless, colorless gas mixed with oxygen and given through a tiny mask that fits over the nostrils.
Laughing gas is a quick-acting, safe, and effective mild sedative agent. Its effects end as soon as the gas is turned off. Patients who use it to relieve anxiety during a dental treatment might feel a bit euphoric or dizzy. However, they are still fully conscious and can communicate with their dental team.
Laughing gas is appropriate for patients who experience mild to moderate dental anxiety or have difficulty sitting still during a dental procedure. It is equally safe for children who may be anxious or nervous about dental appointments.
